Australian Business in Europe (ABIE) is a non-political international business networking organisation. ABIE has international membership with over 1000 members drawn from both Australian companies with business interests and connections in Europe, and from a wide range of European companies with reciprocal interests in Australia.
It was founded in London in October 1975 with a clear objective – to provide a forum for Australians working in Europe, and, European business people associated with Australian industry, to meet and network regularly, to discuss topics of mutual interest.
The ABIE Belgian Branch was founded in mid 1980’s with the support the Australian Embassy in Belgium. ABIE Belgium is a non political membership based business network association promoting the interests of the members.
We provide a forum for the generation of business opportunities, contacts and information exchange for companies and professionals with both Australian and Belgian/European interests.
Our range of events are designed to keep members up to date with business and trade and investment developments affecting the Australian-Belgian relationship as well as social, sports and cultural interactions. These events range from breakfast meetings, seminars and cocktail parties to presentations, wine and food tastings and large dinners. The areas covered vary and are based on the suggestions of the committee and members and cover business, government, art and culture, sports and social gatherings.
ABIE also enjoys close cooperation from the Australian Trade Commission, Australian Government offices and from the Australian Embassy in Brussels. ABIE Belgium is proud to have as its patron the Honorable Duncan Lewis, the Australian Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, the European Union, and NATO.
Our membership consists of many different nationalities all with the common link of Australia and we welcome any new member wishing to be connected for either business, networking or social reasons.
